Partners for Otoe County (P4OC) is a volunteer based nonprofit organization working to strengthen our community and ensure that families thrive. P4OC, formerly People United for Families began in 1987 based upon the concept that by working together as a community, we could accomplish much more than we could accomplish individually. We will celebrate our twenty-five year anniversary in the year 2012.
The first service provided was a Case Coordination Team. The Study Buddies Tutoring Program was developed in 1993, followed by the After School Club in 1998, and then the TeamMates Mentoring Program began here in 1999. In 2001, People United for Families established the Otoe County Coalition for Children, Youth and Families as a way for all community stakeholders to have a role in the assessment, community mobilization, planning, implementation and evaluation of issues and services affecting the youth and families of Otoe County. Since that time, more than a dozen new programs and services were established. The Otoe County Coalition led by People United for Families and the Nebraska City Healthy Communities Coalition led by St. Mary's Community Hospital merged in 2007 to become Partners for Otoe County.
In 2009, People United for Families began operating under the registered trade name of Partners for Otoe County. We continue to grow and expand our services based upon the ongoing and closely assessed needs of our community so that all Otoe County families can thrive.
