Study Buddies Starts September 14 – Here’s How to Get Involved:

Study Buddies, a one-to-one tutoring program for elementary students, gets underway for the fall semester September 14th in Nebraska City and Syracuse and September 15th in Talmage. There are many ways you can get involved and help as many children as possible succeed in school with the help of Study Buddies:

ENROLL YStudy Buddies Makes Learning FunOUR STUDENT: There are currently openings available for new students in each community. Elementary teachers or parents can get their student registered by filling out the form on our website or by calling 873-6343 for more information.

VOLUNTEER TO TUTOR: Volunteer tutors are needed at each Study Buddies location. Every volunteer tutor is matched with a student to work one-to-one each 12-week semester. Substitute tutors are also needed. Volunteers must be in the 9th grade or older. There is a volunteer training on September 7th. You can volunteer by downloading a volunteer application at www.p4oc.org or call 873-6343 for more information.

DONATE A SCHOLARSHIP: In order to cover program costs, registration fees have risen for the first time in 17 years, from $5 per semester to $30 per semester, so more of the students will need scholarships to participate. A $30 donation will provide the registration fee for one student to participate in Study Buddies for one semester - a student whose family who cannot afford a $30 registration fee to participate. You can donate a tax-deductible scholarship online through our website, by mailing a check to People United for Families, 917 Wildwood Lane, Nebraska City, NE 68410, or call 873-6343 for more information. No student will be turned away due to inability to pay a registration fee. Twenty scholarships are needed at this time. Our scholarship program for the Summer Art Camp was a great success and we are hoping for equal success for the Study Buddies Scholarship Initiative.
